Revisited some past footsteps today

A sunny little goat farm, a misty coast along the way

Memories rolling by the window

The wind and sand billowing below

As we drove along the cliffs,

Scenes flashing by like hieroglyphs

Of younger, happier faces

Of lighter, livelier voices

The air had a heaviness today

The stubborn mist casting a haze

Despite the sun in its face

Angry waves bubbling up in foam

Lashing the rocks each time they came home

The streets were emptier

Weary faces behind the counter

missing the usual cheer

We revisited some footsteps today

But I’m not sure anymore

That it was the same place
